Jasri Dalem Surf was started in 2006 by Australian Paul Hughes to create a place that would help the poor and disadvantaged of the community and provide a safe haven for the local kids. Pak Paul, as the local boys call him, provided food, shelter, school supplies, paid school fees and more for over 60 boys since the beginning of JDS, many of whom have grown up and left to work and start families of their own.
Sadly Paul passed away in march 2018, leaving his Balinese and Australian families devastated. The boys you will meet around the homestay are the last of the boys who were under Paul's care. Led by Komang Ata, they are striving to continue Paul's legacy at Jasri Dalem Surf Retreat.
